Sandblasting

The aim of sandblasting is to create a matte surface by destruction the glass surface.

Nowadays, for this processing we use fine-grained electro-corundum.

The fine-grained material is transmitted to the glass by high-pressure air, which detaches small pieces of glass, so the surface becomes matte.

The face of the glass can be decorated with patterns from the simplest to the more complicated ones with the help of sandblasting.

Decoration of the unique patterns comes first before sandblasting, when we mask the glass with plotter foil, thus the matte parts are seperated from the transparents ones. The fragile sandblasted surface is treated with the so-called Clearshield coating, which gives a protective surface.

Applications:

  • interior doors
  • partitions
  • windows
  • mirrors
  • showers
  • glass rails

Clearshield

Clearshield is the practicing of clear glass coating, which has been used and continually developed in England since 1981.

Clearshield is a material which, transmitted to the surface of the glass, makes it more resistant against humidity and contamination, and therefore the glass becomes easy to clean.

Glass treated with Clearshield needs substantially less maintenance, the amount of cleaning needed is about 50% less. The surface protection can last up to 15 years, which can be affected by environmental factors and the type of the glass.

On the whole, we get a glass with better quality:

  • permanent protection of theglass surface, also for indoors and outdoors
  • it is resistant against adherence of bacteria and viruses
  • keep off spots and contaminations without chemicals
  • protection against gases, oil, dust and scales
  • may be applied posteriorly

Etchwork

Etchwork is a glass-machining process with destruction, in which we make straight or arched patterns in the surfaces of glasses and mirrors using diamond wheels with defined profiles.

The design of etchwork can be:

  • polished
  • matte

The etchworking tools with different sizes and cross-sections must be fixed separately to the etchworking head. The reason for this is that the fitting disks wear to a joint position after the first use, they cannot be fixed to the original position again after disassembly, moreover, if reassmebled, the polishing wheel may burst.

Straight etchworking can be achieved without any difficulty, however, the intersections of lines must be done carefully, because etching with a too little angel may negatively affect the meeting point of the lines. In case of curved etching, the 150 square metres disk has a minimal turning radius. In our case, on the basis of experience, the smallest turning radius is R=20-50 mm depending on the width of etchworking.

If we give a smaller radius than this, it happens in each case that the back edge of the turning etching disk will grind into the arched pattern, broadening it and changing the trace of the original pattern.
